Shania Carden is a Chilean-American soprano based in Southern California.
In the 2025 season, she will cover Contessa Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro at CSU Northridge and Nedda in I Pagliacci with Lawrence Opera Theatre, while performing scenes as Magda in The Consul and Mrs. O in Street Scene with the same company. This summer, she will sing Elisetta in Il matrimonio segreto in scenes at Fullerton College. Recent scene work includes Roselinde in Die Fledermaus, Wanda in La Grand-Duchesse de Gérolstein, Mimi in La bohème, Ellen in Peter Grimes, and Beth in Little Women at CSU Northridge. In April 2023, she performed in the U.S. Premiere of Natalia Valli’s Pinocchio as the titular role. She has been a participant in L.A.H. Summer Opera Workshop in Philadelphia, PA where she sang the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni and in the Trentino Music Festival in Fiera di Primiero, Italy where she sang the role of Fortuna in a newly curated edition of L’incoronazione di Poppea by Tim Ribchester.
An avid chorister, Shania has performed under conductors Gustavo Dudamel, John Williams, Carl St. Clair, Jonathan Talberg, Robert Istad, and Christopher Peterson. She sang under Maestro Dudamel’s baton twice at the Hollywood Bowl — for the Marvel: Infinity Saga concert in 2024 and at John William & the LA Phil in 2023. She was part of the premiere Jake Runestad’s The Lighthouse Keeper with the Bob Cole Chamber Choir in 2024. Other notable performances include Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms at Carnegie Hall with the CSU Fullerton Symphonic Chorus in 2019. Her recent solo engagements include Schubert’s G Major Mass and Vivaldi’s Gloria. She also participated in the N.E.O. Music Festival as a choral fellow.
Shania holds a Bachelor of Arts in Choral Music Education from CSU Fullerton, where she studied with Professor Linda Leyrer, and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from CSU Long Beach, where she worked with Dr. Katharin Rundus. She currently studies with Dr. Hugo Vera.
